چکیده

Vascular graft infections are rare complications after surgical and endovascular treatment of aortic diseases. This condition is characterized by complexity in diagnosis medico-surgical management. Moreover, even if properly treated, morbidity mortality rates high. Although several advances have been made over the years guidelines published, there still debate on optimal care for this disease. With local microbiological patterns multiresistant strains conditioning antimicrobial as well debridement techniques armamentarium, it difficult to offer recommendations that can be generalized every single case. In review, we aim at describing thoracic abdominal vascular providing current information diagnosis, medical treatment,

Vascular graft infections.

Vascular procedures are rarely complicated by infection, but if prosthetic vascular graft infection (PVGI) occurs, morbidity and mortality are high. Several patient-related, surgery-related and postoperative risk factors are reported, but they are not well validated. PVGI is due to bacterial colonisation of the wound and the underlying prosthetic graft, generally as a result of direct contamina...

The prevention of orthopaedic implant and vascular graft infections.

The infection rate for any surgical prosthesis insertion should be less than 1% in the first postoperative year. If infection occurs the patients will lose their new found mobility, lose their independence, be hospitalized with sepsis, both local and systemic, and perhaps die. Preoperative and intraoperative measures to prevent infection are well established in orthopaedic surgery but less scie...

Outcomes in the management of vascular prosthetic graft infections confined to the groin: a reappraisal.

The management of vascular prosthetic graft infections confined to the groin continues to be controversial. To critically evaluate this problem, we reviewed the records of our vascular registry from December 1992 through February 1995 and found 17 incidences of groin sepsis involving a vascular prosthesis in 10 patients. These included a proximal prosthetic femoropopliteal bypass (n = 6), an ao...
